WE PROVIDE CONSECUTIVE INTERPRETING

What is consecutive interpreting?

Consecutive interpreting is the practice of delayed, oral translation, where the speaker and the interpreter take turns during the speech. The speaker presents part of their speech, pauses, and the interpreter conveys the content in the target language to the audience. If the sections of speech are longer, the interpreter takes interpreting notes. This allows them to interpret not only individual sentences or thoughts, but also several minutes of speech.

What are the advantages of consecutive interpreting?

There are no equipment costs (just a notepad and pen) and one interpreter only is enough.

PERFECT PERFORMANCE

Our interpreters never underestimate preparation. Ever.

A good interpreter prepares in advance to deliver their best performance. For professional speeches, preparation is an absolute necessity because of the terminology. We will therefore always ask you to provide us with the maximum amount of information and reference material you have available.

TYPES OF INTERPRETING

When to choose consecutive interpreting?

In consecutive interpreting, the interpreter is usually seated next to the speaker. It’s best to make sure that the speech is interpreted into one language only, as no interpreting equipment is available, and that the number of participants is rather small. Consecutive interpreting can be divided into two categories::

Conference consecutive interpreting

The interpreter takes notes, making it possible for them to render larger segments of speech – ideal for smaller conferences without interpreting equipment and speeches of foreign guests at formal events.

Liaison consecutive interpreting

The speech is usually interpreted in shorter sections or sentences, which is ideal for business meetings.

How much will it cost?

The consecutive interpreting rate depends on many different factors:

Where will the event take place?

What languages will be involved?

What reference material can you provide to the interpreter?

The easiest way is to contact us and we will prepare a no-obligation bespoke quotation for you.
