SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETING (SIMULTANEOUS TRANSLATION)

What is simultaneous interpreting?

Simultaneous interpreting is a type of interpreting where the translation happens in real time and it usually involves the use of interpreter booths, headphones, microphones and other necessary equipment. The speaker and the interpreter speak at the same time and the audience receives a real-time translation through headphones. That’s why simultaneous interpreting, or simultaneous translation, is more practical at events with a large numbers of participants or if there is a need to interpret into several languages at once

What are the advantages of simultaneous interpreting?

Simultaneous interpreting is more time-efficient thanks to the fact that the translation and the speech happen at the same time. It doesn’t make the event unnecessarily long and translation can take place into several languages at once.

WHEN TO CHOOSE SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETING

When is simultaneous interpreting useful?

In simultaneous interpreting, the interpreters sit in an interpreting booth and the interpreted speech is transmitted to the participants through headphones. It’s ideal especially for events with large numbers of participants where the speech is interpreted into several languages at once and interpreting equipment is available.

WE OFFER SIMULTANEOUS INTERPRETING

We have the best interpreters

Simultaneous interpreting is the most prestigious discipline of interpreting. Besides perfect knowledge of the language, the interpreter must think ahead, maintain sharp focus and attention and react promptly. The interpreter should make the speech concise and omit linguistic elements that are irrelevant to the meaning of the message in order to keep up with the speaker and make the interpreted speech fluent. Due to the complexity of simultaneous interpreting, you will always need two interpreters who take turns in the booth after about 15 minutes.

What do we need from you?

A good interpreter prepares in advance to deliver their best performance. For professional speeches, preparation is an absolute necessity because of the terminology. We will therefore always ask you to provide us with the maximum amount of information and reference material you have available.

Simultaneous interpreting can also take place online

We have good news! Simultaneous interpreting can be easily integrated into online events and video calls. Contact us and together we’ll find the best solution for you.

How much will it cost?

The simultaneous interpreting rate depends on many different factors:

Where will the event take place?

What languages will be involved?

What reference material can you provide to the interpreter?

The easiest way is to contact us and we will prepare a no-obligation bespoke quotation for you.
